Title: OH MY!!
Post by: poka-bee on August 23, 2008, 07:59:24 PM
I am sooooo glad I went with 8frm meds!! Those suckers are heavy, must be 50lbs! The green girls have 2 boxes full of honey & are starting to backfill some of 1 brood box, mostly on the outer frames.  They have 6-7 frames of capped & a bunch of uncapped brood.  I had to scrape some messed up comb from the top super so got about 1/2 feame of honey..it's very light & very good!  The blue girls don't have as much capped honey but lots of open & capped brood & frames of liquid.  I think they superceded a queen cause about a month or so ago I found a dead queen outside the hive. The blue girls weren't as creative with comb building, preferring to stay within the frames.  Neither hive was amused by my actions, only 1 sting trying to get a bee out of the scraped honey covered comb. Lots of bumps & finger shaking!  Off to find some cloth to strain thru! Jody, yeah!!!!  Now don't that just make you feel darn right good inside.  This has been a great year for our bees in our areas, I know you share pretty much the same weather as me, even though we are some distance apart.  Once we got out of June, July was wonderful and dry, some rain for a couple of day, more sunshine, more rain, it seemed like the perfect companion weather for nectar and the bees.  I will be going into my colonies this week for the first check on if they have stored honey, hee, hee.  I am proud of ya, girl, (and your girls) hee, hee.  Have that most wonderfully awesome day, Cindi

Jody, I might need your help in a couple weekends.  I'm starting to think I should have gone to 8 frame too.  I put on a deep from one of my dead hives for the good hive to clean up and left it on too long.  Now it's completely full of capped honey and has to weigh 100lbs!!!!!

My ross rounds are all capped too.  Need to order some covers for them and pull them off while the cappings are still white.

You need to come by and see the new baby too!!!

You are correct. They are somewhere between 45 and 50 if they are full.

Sean just let me know when you need help.  I can't wait to see the baby.  She will be all cute & dribbly smiles by now.  I love it when they realize that they are cute & try to charm everyone!  That was the best part of having my daycare, I got to play & cuddle with the babies all day & give em back to Mom at night & on weekends!  :-D Jody
