hey yall,i was wondering how do you store your supers for the fall and winter.i started pulling some of my hives down today and was wondering what to do with my supers.i have got several with drawn comb frames and a couple with out.I store them in an open air pole barn on a pallet off the ground a couple of inches.i put them in plastic bags and taped them up real good to keep bugs out.will there be any problems with them in the bags or do i need to leave them open.thanks
bill
Good to freeze them first, if possible to kill any wax moth larvae that may be in the wax. This is what I do first, then you can place them back into a super and place into a clean garbage bag or even two garbage bags that you tie tightly.
Others will give more advice. Many ways to do this.
I only own 9 mediums for the 3 hives and a friend gave me a working freezer (he got his mom's when she moved into senior care) that holds all 81 frames so I keep'em all in that freezer along with a few other things like bagged ice, corn meal, beeswax and blue ice . . . . . you know . . . . stuff that won't make me cry if the outfit quits.

This is what I do. No problems yet.

I agree. This is an important first step. 24 hours is sufficient.

Nice. I claimed enough room in our freezer for 2 mediums. Better than nothing I guess.
