Title: I was wondering how long...
Post by: DaveKow on September 10, 2008, 09:10:28 AM
I was wondering how long it would take a strong hive to fill a drawn frame (front and back) during a good goldenrod flow.  We have had good rainfall and the bees are working it.  There is vacant field within 50 yards from the hives.  About 5 acres.

Just trying to get an idea.

Thanks.

It depends on their agenda but reasonably, working with gusto I've had them fill and cap a complete medium in 5 days, so my guess would be a 1/2day or two.

Dave,
It depends on
colony strength
how much brood they are raising(I think 1 cell of honey to raise one larvae)
How early the temps rise in the morning to get out flying,
The weather!!

Real crap shoot ain't it? :-D :-D :-D
