Ok folks, please let me know if this is ok to post.
I am starting a fundraiser for a local Beek who's Roof has collapsed. He has very little income, on Disability and depends on his Bee's for winter income. This year has been very bad for us on the Eastern Shore, so he's in a bad way. 1/2 of his home is destroyed and being a Contractor I'm donating my time and tools to the cause. Going over today to put up a fence to keep the vandals from taking what little he has left. The Honey will be labeled " OMG Honey For Homes".
I've tried this honey and everyone has said the same thing WITHOUT prompting..."Oh My God...this is good"...go figure.
Forgive me if this is not the place to post this.
All income will go to pay for building supplies and paying a labor force to clear all the debris which has been wet for nearly a year.
This gentleman has given most of his life to the cause of educating people about bee's. He has personally spent MANY hours on the phone with me. I'm committed to making his house water tight in 1 month.
Anyone on the Maryland Eastern Shore willing to help please PM me. Work Starts today.
Thanks to all who take the time to read this.
Mark
Update:
Got rained out yesterday, even though we needed it, I'm bummed. Did manage to get the trashed power panel back to code as it had wires ripped out by roof trusses snapping. Will be posting pictures soon so you all can see first hand how tragic this is.
I'm not one to overreact, but this is really heartbreaking. During yesterdays rain everything not covered with plastic got wet...again. The good news is we got the remaining roof section stable. His bee's are standing guard..they are not very fond of saws running within 20 feet of their homes.
Thanks to all who lend their support to a truly worthy cause.
PM me if you would like to know cost of project and further details.
New site for pictures of project, please leave comments when you stop by please.

Mark, I see there have not been any replies to your 3 posts, that is a shame. I am very sorry hear of the demise of this poor gentleman, a roof collapse is a sorry thing and I wish that all goes well. Good luck with your fundraising, that is one of the most gracious things a human can do, to help someone in need. The work that you are doing to help him rebuild his building, well, my hat off to you, people that "give, get". Thank you for caring enough to help out this poor soul. You may or may not get help from our forum friends, but then, only time will tell that tale. Have a most wonderful day, love this life we all live and share. Cindi
Thanks Cindi,
I look at this like the movie " Field of Dreams" If you make it they will come...
I already have orders from my customers in Washington DC, so all I need to do now is harvest tomorrow. Wish me luck...they are going to be angry bees.
Mark, do you have PayPal or other ways to get quick payment? I would overnight but it will add another $16 to the cost. I'll be making up my baskets for the silent auction in our town this week. The organizer liked the idea of a fundraiser raising funds with product from another fundraiser across the country! The flyer for mine is here.

Good luck with the harvest, hopefully it won't be raining to add to the agitation...

Jody, go, girl, go!!!! So great that you have gone to this extent to help out, you are a very special woman, I take my hat off to you too 8-) ;) :-* :) :) :) Have the most wonderful day, lovin', livin', this great life of ours!!! Cindi
This post is actually from the Mark's little woman (with a big heart), Becky.
Thanks to all who have taken the time to stop by and pass on encouragement!
With the generosity of Mark's "Real Job" clients, and to the members on this site, hopefully, we can pull this off. Once this initial Honey for Homes project completes, we actually hope to find another member of our local community who might need some help. Obviously Mark's huge generous heart and trademan's skills are going to help out a local beek who has already donated much of his time giving us a good head start with education, tools, lots of time, and honey that is to die for!!!
You know, if I didn't know Mark as well as I do, I'd worry about all the time he's on this site!! :-D
He has definitely surpassed me with his honeybee knowledge and is constantly teaching me something new that he learned from you guys on this forum!
Keep Smiling!
Becky
Mark -
If you're taking donations - we need an address. I donate part of my 'honey money' and I think that's what keeps it going in a positive direction - last year I bought a kids 4H goat ...... Coming from hurricane country in sw LA where we KNOW about roofs.... - Gena
Hi ALL!!!!
The harvest was slightly less than hoped for, we pulled about 7 gals from the first 20 hives. The temps were around 95 and I lost about 15 lbs wearing the bee suit. I'm going to speak to several other Beeks in the area to provide local honey to bolster our stock. The drought here really stressed the girls and our little friends are pretty hungry. The hives in general were very low on stores but brood count was good. We took NO honey from nearly 50% of the 60 hives our "Beek in need" has.
Due to the obvious disaster in the gulf coast we will be contacting folks down there to see what their needs are. I was told they lost a good part of their pollination hives which go to Florida. Anyone from down there who can call me PLEASE DO!

I do have Paypal but need to check info before I post here. Please be patient folks, I'm still trying to run a farm and a construction business in addition to this.
My Ebay Account is ActionAX and I will be checking to see what costs would be incurred using them. I'm not sure if paypal info is there. I've never sold anything on there so I'll check tonight.
Thanks again to all who have taken the time to read this topic and the Admin folks who have allowed it. If you all feel it needs to be moved to the Trading Post I understand.

Mark, all we need is the email address for your pay pal account, PM people who are interested. I'll do it tonight if I get it. Ebay will charge you to use their site for selling, there will be the listing fees + a % of the total sale, with PPal you don't have to go through them, anyone can send you $$! (they will charge a % also but at least it won't be Ebays cut too!!) Dads left over junk.
Made a trip into Washington DC today, managed to sell 12 honey bears. The reaction to the taste was worth all the hard work yesterday.
After watching the news I really feel for the Beeks on the gulf coast. they must be devestated.
Thanks again to all who have followed this. Hope you all find something in your life like this, helping others really gives you warm fuzzies...well I get them. Kinda like when your Bee's land on you that first time..and don't sting you...
Folks...Please PM me so I don't have a conflict with the forum. It's not fair to run a fundraiser here.
A BIG THANKS to PokaBee and The Miller Farm for helping. Sent her a shipment yesterday.
Our supplies of honey are nearly all sold and we will be asking other local Beeks to share some of their stock to help bolster our efforts.
If all goes well the work should start this weekend.
Thanks again everybody for pitching in.
