Title: Bee Beards
Post by: Moonshae on September 15, 2008, 10:04:12 PM
I know that this trick is done by putting a caged queen under the chin, but...How do you get the bees off? Give your face a shake to drop the clump, and then move the cage? I guess if that's the case, you have to use known calm bees, because I've had swarms get testy when dropped like that!

Put a deep below  your chin and have someone slap you on the back of the head. Just be sure to get it on video for us.

Most that I've seen put the caged queen on a necklace of some sort and place it around the neck, the bees cluster where she is.

After the handslapping and pictures, you take the necklace off with your hand, and place it somewhere else, then a quick downward shake is required to dislodge most of the bees.

Will take some time for the bees to re-adjust to where the queen is.

Use some nice, sugar water sprayed bees from a swarm for this.

I may try doing this myself this season, will certainly post some pics.

Yeah, DH tried that by taking a dump on ground hornets, not one of his better ideas! I still start laughing every time I think about it from the hornets point of view    That guy in England looks like a Sasquatch, maybe that's what people have been seeing all these years?? :?  Jpdy
