Title: Ross Rounds are Cool!!!
Post by: Sean Kelly on September 23, 2008, 01:50:53 AM
I pulled my ross round honeycomb super off today.  Been really busy the last month and haven't had time to check on it.  Only about 10 of the 32 rounds were drawn and completely capped.  I caught the tail end of the blackberry season this year with the comb super due to late shipping problems.  But I'll be ready for next year!

The rounds that were finished were PERFECT!  Virgin white cappings and no weird wax or propolis.  Gunna order a couple more of these kits for next season!  Talk about NEAT STUFF!!!

Is it okay if I toss these rounds in the freezer if I don't need them right away?  I still need to order some covers and the labels and would like to give them out for christmas this year.

A freind used these this year and he said that when he put them in the freezer the plastic rings broke.  Is this normal?

JP, I'll post pics when I get a extra moment.

Danno,  I thought the same thing but I read somewhere that you could do this.  So I'm not sure what to do.  My wife want's them off the counter but I still do not have the covers and labels for them yet (ordered them yesterday).  And I'm afraid to stick em in the freezer.  AHHH....  lol

Glad to hear that you had such success with the ones that were completed.

I read somewhere that you were supposed to put them in the Freezer (for 2 days I think) but I have NO idea how it would affect the Plastic Forms.   I would try and find the Phone number (or email) of the company who makes these and give them a call to ask..  I bet they get that inquiry alot.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I just called ross rounds Inc and they told me that they have never heard of the rings cracking from freezing.  The woman told me that the caps should be put on the rounds before freezing.  I would try a few and you will know in 24hrs

What do you do with the rounds that don't get filled up?  Can you clean them out and reuse?
