Title: How many bees?
Post by: rose on September 26, 2008, 09:53:08 PM
If you live in the north (I'm in Michigan), how many bees approx. will be in the hive during the winter?

I love thegolfpsycho's answer. The number can vary depending on a number of circumstances and will change over the winter. You want to go into winter with a healthy hive. So it will survive. You can start with 60,000 bees and end up less than half by winters end but you could have 90% of the original amount.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

I don't know what thegolfpsycho's problem is, but all the research says 7,320.   If you loose that bee you are in big trouble.  Too many golf balls to the head!
