Title: proper dosage of terramycin and fumagilin
Post by: reubenburwell on October 03, 2008, 10:22:48 AM

I have one hive and am doing the bees' fall medications. What is the proper dosage of these medications? The directions on how much to give and proper proportions are especially evil. (Whoever wrote the directions ought to be fired.) I was told 1 part Terr. to 5 parts powdered sugar. So...I mixed roughly a 1 tsp. to 5 tsp. batch. The next week I repeated this same amount.

At the same time, I have given the bees approximately 1/2 tsp. fumagilin in a 2:1 sugar syrup mixture. I also repeated this the following week.

How do I stand?

Rueben.  I can only answer part of your question.  I was looking at the instructions for my Fumagilan-B.

It indicates that the powder should be in a 2:1 sugar syrup mixture.

For 4 litres (approximately 1 gallon) of sugar syrup
5 grams (approx. 1-1/2 tsp) of Fumagilan-B

Mixed at warm temperature

I just weighed the fumagilan-B and it was about 1-1/2 tsp to 5 grams

Hope this may help, others will chime in.  Have that most wonderful day, Cindi
