Title: ventalation for winter
Post by: greenismycolor on October 06, 2008, 10:58:27 PM
Hi all

2nd year keeping bees :-D I have 2 hives one is 1 deep and the other is 1 deep and 1 medium both 10 frames.  I have seen where so many people refer to top hive ventalation, I understand the importance of it...but how much is to much? what is enough?

I use inverted solid bottom boards for tops on my bottomless hives.  I put the entrance reducer in place set to the smallest setting.  The reducer is put in just as if the bottom board were being used for its intended purpose, when inverted that sets the vent hole at the highest possible point in the hive.
