Sat out side at lunch and had a honeybee come directly to my soda can. She slurped the rim dry in no time and took off. Five, maybe six minutes latter she was back. This indicates to me there is just not enough nectar available and with the warm weather they are consuming more honey than they are gathering. I think I have better feed during this warm phase.
Amandrea. How cool is that. I love to hear these little stories about our bee friends. You can bet your bottom dollar that it wasn't the same girl that came back, she had gone home, told her sisters and they figured out where the sweet was coming from. If you had stayed there for a long time, I bet you would have been overcome by the bees, hee, hee. Thanks for sharing your sweet little story. Have a most wonderful day and life, great health wishes to us all. Cindi
Last Sat. I was walking down the tractor road from by barn to the house, past the burn barrel and saw a red tootsie pop, half eaten laying on the ground. It had 5 girls working it over. I picked them up and set them off to the side. Do you think they are making cherry honey
I shared my soda with a honeybee when I was in high school. Never will forget. I took a big swallow, she was inside the can :-D! Got it on the tongue!!!
Unfortunately it hasn't shut me up ;)!
Made the mistake of leaving my frame feeders on the back porch, FULL of syrup.
Becky was NOT happy...BEES EVERYWHERE!!!!!!
Big oops...
