Title: Feeder Removal Question
Post by: Pond Creek Farm on November 09, 2008, 10:23:29 AM
I got bsuy and forgot to take off the hive top feeders on two of my hives.  It is cold now with the night time temp last night in the twenties.  I am sure we will get a few warner days soon in the fifties.  Is it ok to wait until a warn day to take off the feeder or should i get them off right away?  I was leaning towards waiting, but I was not sure if there was a reason that the feeders being on in the cold was detrimental.

You can leave them on all winter.  I won't matter that much.  Take them off when it warms up.

I often leave hive-top feeders on all winter. When the hives feel light in Jan/Feb, I can feed without opening things up and exposing the cluster.
