I moved a couple of 2 story deep nuc's into my barn yesterday. 1 had plenty of honey the other was week so I gave it a frame of pollen and 3 frames of honey about 2 weeks ago. They are both queen right. Our temps have been staying in the upper 30's to low 40's. Its quiet, dry, cool and very well ventilated. I'm sure this has been tried many times before. Can anyone tell me any downsides to this.
They won't get any sun and therefore won't get the benefit of the warmth from it. They won't take cleansing flights or get early pollen. Move them back out when your other bees start flying.
Thanks Rob
I was going to put them in my tool shed that is completely open to the east however as soon as the snow comes my 70 + free range chickens spend there days in there and it can get alittle loud. Maybe this would still be better
Beware of mice. Barns make good home for them and they may be curious.
