Title: Beekeeper in Calabasas California
Post by: finchrat on January 12, 2009, 12:09:18 AM
Well, Ive had bees since I was about 20. 54 now so its been a while.
Had as many as 50 but now I just keep a few around for pollination etc.
I live in one of the canyon areas so there isnt really much forage except for sage and thats not really reliable. Sumac used to be good in years past but too much brush clearing going on that has cut down on the forage.
Lost a few this year to mites and whatever. Strangely I havent seen foulbrood in any of my hives in a very long time.

Finchrat.  Welcome to our forum. Thirty-four years among the bees.  That is significant.  I'm very happy that you have found us.  This will be a place that you can spend some quality and wonderful time, tell us some of your tales, experiences, advices.  We are that crowd of people that love to listen.  We can learn some stuff from you, and maybe you can learn some stuff from us.  Stick around, here too, you can make some good friends.  Have that wonderful, great day, great health.  Cindi
