Title: Where to put OB Hive
Post by: JordanM on January 17, 2009, 07:30:33 PM
I want to get an observation hive but i dont know where to put it.

I was thinking attaching it into the dryer duct going outside but i dont know if when the dryer turns on will the bees feel the heat in the winter time and go walking out into the freezing cold:
Here is the back going to the outside i would splice the tube in here and run it out to:

here the outside vent:

My biggest problem is finding a place to run it outside our house and we have this type windows that swing open:

If anyone has had these windows or knows how to run a hose out of them without leaving a space where air can get in i would greatly appreciate it. Since i can not drill a hole right through are wall.

I've never had an observation hive, but I can visualize problems with the idea of using a dryer duct.  :-D What if a small swarm goes the wrong way and ends up in the dryer?
