Title: Doesn't anyone know beekeepers in Nevada or Wyoming
Post by: beemaster on February 09, 2009, 01:35:39 AM
Hi All:

only a short time from our forums anniversary and we still have TWO STATES with no members, does anyone know beekeepers in either Nevada or Wyoming? If you do, I'd sure appreciate referring the forum to them, these are the illusive states that have just never found their ways here. Thanks.

I just thought to search either state for a beekeeping association and let them know of the forum, possibly at local club, regional or state meetings. I'm a bit "Monk"ish and going all this time with states that I am sure have beekeepers AND Internet should have found us by now. I'll get to work on that.

Our 5th anniversary of the forum is FEBRUARY 19th   X:X :pinkelephant: :piano: :rainbowflower: :yippiechick: :locked: :devilbanana: :jerry: :bee: :brian: X:X and just a quick thank you to all of you who have found the site and passed the word around. We get greater each day in membership and in building friendship in the farthestreaches of the globe - BRAVO to you all :)

Dennis Murrel is from Wyoming.  I used to have bees in Wyoming.  Does that count?  :)

Don't know Dennis and I the member map only counts posted locations - but we sure have added some NEW countries to the forum lately, I had to Gooogle a few to see where they were, I have about a 30% accuracy rate, I need to hit the globe more!

I was at the Ren Faire in Folsom, CA this weekend and there was a "bee stand" there, so naturally I went up to chat with the guy. It turns out that instead of being a small craftsman as I expected, he was part of a "bee company" with 3000 hives - and he said many of their hives got taken to Wyoming over the summer, so there's definitely a thriving bee-ness going on there.

As far as wares, he had star-thistle honey (which I was quite excited about, since star-thistle is one of the main invasive weeds that I try desperately to get rid of) and he was impressed by the honey that came from it.

Alistair from Mowat Apiaries was kind enough to give me a few pounds of his Starthistle honey and I must say it is GREAT!
