Second year beek and was able to get finger jointed 1x8 to make 10 suppers for free. Anyhow painted well on the outside. Has anyone used fingerjointed wood.Did it last long? Didnt know what kind of wood is used by most of you. Spruce? Hard to find something cost effective here in NC Any help is greatly appreciated
As a contractor I've used it outside for trim a few times on houses. It holds up ok if you keep it painted. Don't know how well it would hold up for hive bodies.
Thanks that has been pretty much my experience. I have built 17 now and have one in use. Been out for a month and sure hope it holds up. So far with good primer and a couple coats of good latex,so far so good. Thanks Dave
I guess it all depends on the glue used. I've used finger joints with waterproof titebond and they hold up fine.

Thats good news. I did use titebond III. Got the be carefull when using. Ruined some cloths. It will not ever come off Thanks CU Dave
