Title: Need bees in WV panhandle, Southern PA
Post by: Rufa on February 15, 2009, 12:04:35 AM
I was advised to ask the forum about this...

Is there anyone bringing bees northward that might be able to sell me some in my area? I have a yard not far from Hancock, MD which is sandwiched right between PA and the WV panhandle. I need to restart four or fewer hives this year. Alternatively, is there anyone with nucs in the tri-state area?

Any other ideas on how I can get some hives started on the cheap? Any variety will do, I plan on re-queening later in the year with an acclimatized strain. I'm going to be contacting the extension agency and the 'keepers I know of in the area, in the meantime, any info from the forum folks is appreciated.

PM Bjorn on this site. He has nucs in south, mid central PA.

I can not remember the details, but for some reason I suggested Rufa coming here and posting. (timing, drive, etc.)

Contact http://www.wvbeekeepers.org/ and see if anyone has bees close enough for nuc or is bringing up packages.

BjornBee runs a good show but he's booked up with nucs. I really like his method of breeding, and if I do get hives going this spring, I'll be ordering queens from him in the summer.

I spoke to him on the phone a few days ago.
