Hello- I'm interested in beekeeping from a sustainability perspective- I'm working on an energy decent plan and bees are part of that. I have a suburban vegetable garden, wood heat, rainbarrels, and am part of what I hope will be a Transition Town. I'd be interested in hearing about folks in my area. I've ordered my hive and bees- waiting to get started in April. Thanks
Welcome to the forum.
Sounds great what your doing.
Glad to see another from Pennsylvania. ;)
Hope you get involved and enjoy the many things that bees can offer.
Hello and Welcome chickade
There is alot of great information on the forum !!
The members here are willing help and answer your questions, all you need to do is to ask
Johnny
Chickade, welcome to our forum, you are up to some cool stuff. Just wait until you get your bees, you are going to be very excited and you will fall in love with these little beauties. Stick around, this will be a place where you can tell your tales, stories and experiences, and best of all, make some new and good friends. Have that most
I'm not too sure about how to feed my new bees when I get them- what is the best way to do that in the PA area? How often will I have to put food out? I'm asking as I'm planning to put them on my roof (a flat roof) and the site is somewhat difficult to access. I dfid try to get answers from the forum, but am still confused. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place? Thanks
Chickade needs some help with information, someone must be able to help her out. I have internet problems so I can't even begin to take the time, I will be bumped out any second. Answer her question. Have a wonderful and most awesomely great day, Cindi
welcome
You can use something like this for syrup away from the hive,or surround it with a couple boxes on top of the hive(inside the box).

These can be bought at most farm supply places(Such as tractor supply company)

Enter your zip code in top right and it will list the stores near you.(Seems like several near Swarthmore)
For a look at how to feed in the hive with a quail feeder look here:

Hope this helps.
