Title: Bees going Crazy
Post by: zardiw on March 30, 2009, 06:29:28 PM
What are my bees doing here....are they getting attacked? Are they getting ready to swarm....they are really excited that's for sure.

I have always blocked the entrance with a piece of redwood, leaving only about an inch worth of entrance.

They were doing this same thing about a week or so ago, so I pulled the wood back about an inch thinking they needed a bigger entrance.

But they've been managing fine with that size entrance, so what's happening here? Temperature is 75F. There's been lots of flowers blooming for the last month or so.

This area is desert, close to Palm Springs, Ca

Too me it just looks like they are busy.  I am in North Carolina and I have already totally opened the entrance.  They are busy like that every warm day.

I removed my entrance reducers weeks ago...and I am Norcal...I say  open the door.

Have you inspected the hive to see if you have swarm cells?  That would give you an idea if they are planning to leave.  What is going on in the hive??
