Greetings, I had a hive die out due to what I think was robbing. I would like to reuse the drawn out frames in a new hive. If there was AFB, I don't want to use any of the frames. Much of the comb was damaged, and I found a few beetles in the hive when I broke it down.
My question is about one strange spot on a frame. Does anyone know what the brown filled cells in the middle of the image are?
Note: Had to remove image, asking admin to append the image.
Here is the picture:

It is wax, propolis and/or a mixture of both. If you look closely, a majority of the cells are miss shaped and just filled in. It is quite common on old comb for cells to "wear out" and filled in.
rob....
Thanks, I didn't want to reuse the frames if there was any disease. There are a few cells of capped brood that never emerged, not sure why, but the new bees should clean them up.
