Well wanted to get it done sooner, but just got my bee suit and hat and veil, dad is helping so wanted to make sure he was protected most since he really has been getting over a small fear of bees this past year. But he's been into them!
So got everything ready and built my new and improved hive stand that will hold up to 4 or 5 hives I think, still will only have two this year.
The move isn't really far, it's from a field in the back side of my house that is separated by forest so the winding farm trail to the fields is what makes it seem further. Moving them closer so I can keep a better eye, and the new spot has much improved direct sunlight and gets the morning sun as opposed to the more broken shade of my old area (probably made it SHB heaven!).
So wish me luck guys, I hope I don't screw it up. Been reading the heck out of Bush Bees on moving a hive. :)

Went good. a lot smoother than I thought it would. Got the girls to the new stand in the yard where I can see them now while I'm typing this.
I had thought about leaving the hive closed overnight at first, but then changed my mind and put up some limbs in front then opened it up. Was awesome watching the first few that came out do their little re orientation flight.
So will have a look at them tomorrow, outside only. Make sure they look ok.

Thanks Cindi! We've been having rain these past two days since I've moved them. Managed to get out yesterday during a break in the weather and it all looked good. Girls were flying in and out just like normal. Later this week as it dries out some will do an inspection.
I'm really torn about splitting this hive. It seems to be doing VERY well and has awesome numbers. I have another box from my colony I lost last year that I could put them in. Ordered replacements already so will have to build some more boxes if I do that. I just don't know if I should hold off on splitting this year and wait till next.
