after installing a bunch of packages last week with no stings, today my kid installed her two, again no stings. Then about an hour later I went back to replace the boards on her hives that we were using as inner covers with proper ones. No protective gear, figure I was getting a little too comfortable. Guess they were not happy with me bothering them and one nailed me right on the throat, just to the left of my adams apples :'(
Guess I am a real beek now :-D
somewhere on here was a thread showing sting reactions. if yours swells, take a picture and post it for us
I had a similar experience with a first year package last year. I was going to peek under the top cover to get an idea as to how much syrup they were consuming. A guard bee zipped out and nailed me right on top of my bald head! They neighbors got a good laugh watching me run away from the hive, beating myself on the head.
Nothing looks so macho as running away from the hive waving your arms. LOL I am a born coward. I wear that stuff they sell for protection. I still get stung. But since I purchased it I'm gonna wear it. Not a macho bone in my body. I'm a born coward..
I was beginning to think I was the only one who has ever done the 100 yd dash!
I'm lucky in that the only place I've gotten it is my thumb. Still nothing picture worthy yet :-D *knocks on a cedar box*
Oooooooo.......tips of my fingers is probably the worst place to be stung for me! Lots of nerves, you know!
i took my granddaughter out to the bees one time. i wanted her to learn not to be afraid. got a bee up my pants. i wanted to strip and run, but that would have defeated the whole "don't be afraid" thing, so i took the sting and walked calmly back to the house. THEN, i stripped and cussed!
The redness was gone after an hour, figure I will take a sting over a mosquito bite anytime, those things bug the heck out of me for days.

I had an experience something like that, when I began I used to brush the bees off the frames to get a good look. I had loose pants on and they like to crawl up your legs. Nonetheless with a bee in your boxers, a person does some dancing around. I got nailed in the groin, luckily I don't swell too much. Welcome to the baptism of beekeeping.

I had to watch "Team America" to get "the signal" down correctly~!!!
Can be used for bee stings too!

I must be missing something !
One bee sting and it makes " headlines " ?

Who all has gotten stung by a dead bee? Lol, I was taking my top deep off to look at the lower one and finger found a poor girl that got squished in between them. Got the stinger stuck in the tip of it lol. I don't count that one though, just the one that got my thumb.
