Title: Will a queen start to lay after hive almost starve
Post by: thomas on April 17, 2009, 09:36:10 PM
Howdy i went to look at one of my hives to see how they were doing after i caught a swarm. The hive had plenty of bees in it and the queen was laying but yesterday i found alot of dead bees on the out side and when i looked in side i found just about all of my bees and beood dead but the queen and others bees were living but no food so i gave them some syrup and they went right to work eating so i plan on putting them in a small nuc will the queen start back laying if i give them some food and maybe a frame of young bees and brood from another hive.

Howdy checked on my weak hive and the queen is laying a small pattern but she is back laying. I am going to take a frame of young bees and brood and spray them down with some syrup and pro health to cover thier scent and add to them maybe this will get the ball rolling my other hives are working like crazy coming in all covered in pollen they are yellow so i know brooding should be in full swing again for now.
