Title: Swarm
Post by: crawfish on April 19, 2009, 12:31:36 PM
Caught a swarm on Friday in a 5 frame Nuc. They only have foundation on the frames. How long should I wait before I take a peek at what they have done?

If you are feeding or have a good nectar flow, you should see good progress in a week, maybe even some eggs. It never hurts to just open the top and look.

I've got a hive top feeder with 1gal of sugar water in it. I can see a lot of bee coming in loaded with yellow pollen.

Hauling in pollen is a good sign.

Here is where you will have to be the judge about how many bees you have in a 5 frame nuc. It will fill up mighty quick.
Don't let them get to crowded. :)doak
