I know its your spring, so many posts by people already worrying about their hives performing well.
I am not an experienced beekeeper, but I can tell you one thing and you can take it to the bank.
Leave em alone and they will work things out without the need for chemicals and pesticides and what not.
Bees know what to do. 350 million years or so, they have worked it all out, we are just playing a game of catch up.
When in doubt, leave em alone. :-D
Well, I hear what ya saying Mick, but how about leave them alone, but make sure they have ample room to spread out? Don't want 'em swarming out on ya now.
I use starter strips or drawn out comb in my deep and medium set up for broodnests, lets them make the size cell they want to, makes for happy bees.
How you feeling btw?
Heard someone tried or did run you off the road.
