Title: Entrance Reducers on a Newly Installed NUCs and it will be a Hot One
Post by: donm on April 21, 2009, 10:21:19 PM
Need some advice from those willing to share their expertise.  I installed two NUCs on Sunday.  I'm feeding 1 to 1 because the flow is a little light this year and they have five frames to draw out.  They are really taking it up too.  Jars on top of the inner cover, surrounded by a super and topped off with the outer cover.  I installed the entrance reducers but am thinking I need to take them off since the high will be in the low 90s.  I was a little concerned about potential robbing since one of the NUCs was a little smaller than the other.  I'm using screened bottom boards and I noticed some fanning yesterday with temps in the mid-80s.  Any thoughts out there?

If these are the only two you have I would take the reducers out.
Or cut another couple reducers that leave a little more space.

Take the reducers and screened bottom board trays out if your temps are that high.  Don't forget to open some kind of top venting.
