Title: New Swarm In North Carolina. Problems!!!!
Post by: SRL on April 23, 2009, 04:10:13 PM
I caught a swarm last Thursday we moved them last Firday. They were doing good I started feeding the suger water. Today I noticed very few bees and a small number of Red Ants entering the hive. I'm afraid I lost this hive or the bees left. Any Idea? Thanks, SRL :?

Did you open up the new hive and see only a few bees, or are you just noticing a few coming and going from the entrance?

Hey SRL

People in Raleigh probably don't know where Fallston is.  I'm about 5 miles west of Lincolnton just off of 182.  I go thru Fallston on my way to Shelby Livestock.  My father and aunts & uncles grew up going to TC Falls store to shop.

Sounds like the bees decided to move on to a different home and the few that are left were out foraging when the swarm moved on.  It's happened to me before.

Good luck with your bees.  We need more beekeepers around here.
