Title: looking for a beekeeper
Post by: Buzzen on April 29, 2009, 06:02:20 PM
Hey all,  I'm in southeastern Idaho and would like to get in touch with someone local. Maybe have someone show me their operation.  I'm a total newb, but am fascinated by bees.  Hoping to start up next spring with my own hives (2).  I'm in Jefferson county........anybody interested???    thanks-----Todd

You may check with your county offices, as they may be able to direct you to a local beekeepers association.

I'm a good 2 1/2 hours south of you in Smithfield, Utah, and I'm sure that you can find someone closer than that, but you're welcome here anytime.

having them at home to watch is a blast, go at your own pace, but it's a rush to do an inspection and see their progress. I'm pretty brand new  myself, and my only regret is that I didn't start 20 years ago.

First off, call/visit your County Extension Office.

Also

Call or visit your Sheriff;
Use information number;
{ the one listed in the phone book, NOT 911 }
Ask them if they know of any local beekeepers, they sometimes actually see things while on patrol.

Another option;
If your a church member, ask your Preacher { they know everybody }

This club is over by Boise, but I'd bet they would be able to connect you to a club or beekeeper close to you:
