Title: Is she a bad queen?
Post by: orvette1 on May 09, 2009, 05:36:59 AM
I put a new young queen in a hive. I did all I was supposed to before I did. She doesn't lay in a proper pattern. She will fill an entire frame then skip some then spot fill another. Lately I haven't seen any capped brood, but there seem to be as many bees as before. Any ideas?

When did you put this new queen in?

Do you see the different stages of the egg, larva?

Have you seen capped brood in this hive already, by this queen?

It has been said that a queen does her best work in her second year. I would wait and see on this one if you recently installed her. Look at the big picture with this hive also, are they building? Making honey?
