Title: queen piping
Post by: beedad on May 25, 2009, 11:24:58 PM
i was opening my lang hive the other day and my queen was piping.  alot.  so i pulled her out and went through every frame and didnt see any queen cells.  i think they might have been getting ready to swarm soon as there where a ton of drone brood.  so i put the queen and some brood in a nuc and took her to an out yard.  so any ideas what the piping might have been about?

When I saw the video of the piping queen I did a google and came up with:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_bee#Piping (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_bee#Piping).

I am a new beek, so I don't know anything about them other than what I read there but maybe it will help answer your question. Sorry.

There are more queens that one is talking to.
