So this morning I'm setting up a small colony in a nuc and the queen flies off towards my truck to come back about ten seconds later and she's just saundering on top of the frames, then flies off again, then back again, then off again, then back again, then off again, six seperate times.
Then she finally makes a decision, and winds up on my truck, just under my narrow truck box along with a small swarm of bees.
Of course I put her back in the nuc a few times, cause she kept flying back to that same spot on my truck.
My lifetime bottle of lemon grass oil had leaked inside the box, right above where she kept landing, mystery solved.
Put her in a hairclip catcher in the nuc and went about my business. She sure is a pretty queen don't you agree?
Other pics are of a cut out in an eave. Boy was this one fun! Have to go back tomorrow to remove some surplus honey I couldn't get to from the exterior. Bees have a way of giving one quite the challenge!
Bees were nice, many, and large.

I really like the closeup photo with the queen cell in it. Excellent photograph. You ought to submit that one to a magazine.
Hiya JP, yes, she is a beauty isn't she?
Yep, nice queen.
So what do you do with all these colonies you take home, are you building up an apiary, or selling them off every year?
that looked like a pretty hard cut out, lots to repair.
glad you got them out and put up, good job.

Ray, I always get a thrill out of seeing and observing just about any queen, but when I see something unusual I get even more excited, she is a little different looking and I really think she's a babe to look at.
G3, yes, lots to repair. Hated to have to open up what I did but had to, to get them all out. The construction was a little screwy, but to be honest, the area needed an update anyway cause of rot issues.
Grandma, I help who I can, sell some, keep some.
Cheryl, now you have me wanting to take another looksy at that picture! I really took the shot to add to my library, when someone asks, what's a queen cell?

Gee JP she is almost as good looking as my new superceded queen. Ha Ha just had to say that.
Nice Queen JP. Looks like a very promising colony.
David
...I thought she just wanted to take a ride down to the krystal.

Gosh I seem to have lost it. Oops!!
Getting back on topic, sort of, how about it Annette, care to snap a few pics of your queens next time you go in? Would love to see them.

I will try,
JP, well, some would believe your story about the queen and her sixth return, I think you're pullin' our legs, smiling. Are you telling the truth, the whole truth, nuthin' but the truth, smiling 8-) :-X Just teasing bro....that was pretty darn neat, keep that whole whack of lemon oil hangin' around. Have the best of this wonderful day, lovin' and livin' life, health. Cindi
Cindi, I was setting them up in a nuc, adding feeder etc... and she would fly off then come back, fly off then come back. I have to admit a few of those times I would physically place her back in the nuc but she kept flying back and forth from the truck to the nuc.
The light was a little slow going on in my head about the lemon grass being in the truck box as I normally keep it inside my truck, so once I realized why they wanted to go to that spot the mystery was solved.
