Title: first honey for this year
Post by: catfishbill on May 31, 2009, 08:45:26 PM
hello everyone,i harvested a box of honey Friday and extracted Saturday, and man is it sweet, almost too sweet, but it also has a wintergreen/spearmint taste to it has anyone ever had this?
do bees work mint vines?i have this hive on the edge of a cotton field in the woods next to a creek.i have not put any chemicals in this hive this spring either.and it is far enough away from the cotton that no early sprays by the farmer drifted into this area.thanks in advance

Basswood honey is light and very sweet with a minty taste.  Whatever you have, it sure sounds good!
