Title: They DID move the honey around to make room for the queen
Post by: dgc1961 on June 03, 2009, 03:34:23 PM
I had gone queenless for a while and then the hive got honeybound.  I was concerened that the queen would have no room to lay and I posted a question about that here on the fourm.

I was told not to worry about it.  The bees would move the honey around and make room for the queen.  I inspected today and sure enough.  Frames that were previously full of honey now have honey in the top part of the frame, but the rest of the frame was clearned with brood and eggs.  They cleared out a nice football pattern on the frames.

Thanks for all of the advice on here.  It was cool seeing that they really did move the honey around.

David, what a cool thing to witness.  Now you know first hand that the bees have this capacity in their minds to make room for the babies, just so ding dang cool, eh?  Have a great, most wonderful day, to love and live life, health.  Cindi
