Title: Sting reaction
Post by: oldenglish on June 05, 2009, 12:41:03 AM
I have only been stung twice since starting beekeeping this year, one on the throat and one on the finger. No big deal and within two hours could not even see where stung. That changed yesterday. I went to pick up a box and trapped a bee and got stung on the tip of my little finger, it hurt way more than the other stings and I just put it down to being stung on a sensitive spot.
Today the finger is swollen by about half, not painfull but itching like crazy. I notice this evening that the  back of my hand is also starting to swell up, hopefully this is not a sign of me getting sensitive to bee stings.

Sensitivity can be a fical friend.  You can go a long time without swelling and then suddenly you swell up every time you get stung.  Later it will go back to not swelling.  I've been through the cycle twice now.

I get stung pretty often (4 times this morning moving bees at sunrise) and really dont even get that intense itch any more.  Some times mainly on the hands I dont even realize that I'm getting stung until I see the bee pumping away.  a few weeks ago I got stung under my little fingernail.  Just like that old torture bamboo under the nails, that hurt like hell and swelled pretty good.  On the face seems to hurt more also
