I checked the first super on one of my hives. I put 9 frames with starter strips and a Pf-120 in the middle as a ladder. The bees started on the plastic and ignored the starter strips. They have the frame almost fully drawn and filled and are just now starting on the others. I was surprised that they did not go for the starter strips first. Is this what I should have expected?
Since they were moving up and the only ladder was the plastic and since the PF120s are well accepted (probably because of cell size) I'm not too surprised. Had it been a drawn comb for a ladder and some PF120's and some foundationless I'd bet on the foundationless being drawn first or if it was a package in one box I'd bet on the foundationless.
