Title: Been There Two Months, Bahahahahahaahaha! June 6, 2009
Post by: JP on June 07, 2009, 12:41:05 AM
This is the story.

The young lady that hired me to remove this colony said she had removed this same colony from the front left wall section of this same garage, placed them in a four box set up and they absconded within 24 hours to relocate in the rear left wall section.

She said the bees were MEAN. The lady is a biologist and is trying her hand at bee keeping. Her parents bought her a starter kit and she was fortunate enough to catch a swarm and placed them in the four box set up, after the cut out hive left.

I went through the boxes to find 3 frames of bees in the bottom deep, the first time I went by. I didn't have my smoker so asked if I could burrow her's, which she exclaimed I don't have one!

I said, you mean to tell me you removed those bees from the wall without using smoke??

No wonder they were mean! She also said she had made a make shift suit from plastic garbage bags, I asked to see pictures but there wasn't any, dang!

She said the bees were so mean they stung her and chased everyone at the house for two days.

Today she told me the bees have been in this wall for about two months, so I'm thinking, ok, this is what I'm up against, a hive that swarmed out and entered this wall section two months ago.

So, dear people, tell me, do you think its possible this colony has been in this wall section for two months?

Or...

Yes, the colony was MEAN, I vacuumed four boxes of bees and in the 18th and 19th pictures, you can see the rope I was tempted to use, a few times during this removal. :-D

I am quite sure those bees were in the wall for the past two months, plus a whole lot longer....  Good job, though, nonetheless.

Did you notice any unusual looking vehicles in the garage.  Maybe this woman is from another planet were a month is equal to 365 earth days or something.

There were in fact two flying saucers in the garage. I tried starting one up to take a flight test but that's when she zapped me.

Can't remember anything else after that.

My wife keeps asking me about this two strange spots on my back that appear to be portals of some type.

An interesting demarcation of honey comb on the left panel from the brood on the right.

How long did the cutout take?

 JP,

Now you are finding the same type of people that I have been around lately!
What was the name of that sci-fi tv series? "Invasion"?

JP if those bees built all of that in two months would you be interested in selling the queen? I think I could corner the market in a couple of years :-D

that looks like one tough day at the office.

how many frames of brood did you end of with?

you could of done a split or two with all of that and even given the home owner a nuc to start over with.

Good job as usual, and great pics.

glad you did not have to use the rope ;)

There was quite a bit of honey throughout the colony, brood was somewhat spotty. I have them in a deep and a medium.

The queen stayed in the same spot I'm guessing, the entire cut out, top right.

These are aggressive bees, they stung yesterday and today, they definitely have spunk, perhaps too much, but I know where they'll end up soon.

There's a guy near my buddy Bailey in Raceland that has had some theft from his orange trees or something like that. He asked if we came across some mean bees, if we could put them near the trees to act as guard dogs. No problem!

I'm sure they'll be itching to oblige!

I did the same thing to the county workers that kept coming onto my property without permission, they finaly got the message.
