Title: Bee Seizures?
Post by: luvin honey on June 16, 2009, 12:25:51 AM
Recently, I've noticed a few bees in each of my 2 topbar hives spasming. The first time, the spasming bee was then groomed by fellow worker bees. Tonight, the bee was just doing a wild spasm movement. What is this all about?

Sounds like a waggle dance ---- then communicating the nectar source.

I forgot to mention that I was peeking through the observation windows and both times the spasming bees were crawling on brood comb deep in the hive body. Would the waggle dance suggestion still hold?

I think I could ask about 1,000,000 ?s about bees and still be just scratching the surface!!

Cool beans! (or bees :D) I was wracking my brain for the symptoms of bee diseases but didn't think this fit with any of them!
