Title: Very Large Colony In Shed---June 15, 2009
Post by: JP on June 16, 2009, 01:27:44 AM
This colony had been in this shed for many years. Very dark comb and gentle bees. They were in two wall sections. Got the queen late in the removal right beneath the top plate.

No, in Algiers. What's funny is apparently these sweet little puppies didn't like lawn mowers. The neighbor was happy to see them go!

How many boxes in the vac did you fill up?

That sure was one heck of a big hive of bees.

Great job and great pics, thanks JP!

Did it take a two deep set up to get them all.

The combs were very dark. I transferred brood comb into one deep and vacuumed five boxes full of bees. Will set them up in two deeps and a medium.

I wondered why it said, "hopelessly lost".  I assumed it was since I was new.  Anyway, there it is.

That smacks of a $500 job.  And you could make 3 hives out of it.
