I know - I'm like a little kid with the questions. Is there a for sure way of telling if this is drone brood or not? It looks bigger and more hexagon shaped than the rest, and of course it has drones hanging out on it.

Looks like worker brood to me. Drone brood has much more pronounced caps...those ones basically look level with the comb surface...like worker brood.
drone brood sticks up and looks like kix cereal.

Worker brood and corn pops for my vote. :-D
I don't even see any drones in the pic.
G3
I see what you mean about some of them being more pronounced, especially on the left side, but drone brood is pretty outstanding when you see it. Mine was so puffy that there was no mistaking it :) And Kix cereal or Corn Pops is a great way of describing it!

That's a good description. Now looking again I think I can only spot a few at the bottom of this picture.

So, I seem to have a little bit of drone brood, but not very much.
Man I may never eat those cereals again :-D
the Kix description is not mine originally. don't remember where i saw it. could have been on here. i thought it was the best i'd ever heard and have used it ever since.
The caps on drone cells look like a 32 cal bullet. Envision a 32 cartrige setting upright, then envision that cartrige pushed into the combs on a frame.
