If you don't like veils then wear eye protection goggles.
I got stung a couple of time under the chin, through my veil, and looked like I had a goiter for 3 days. I think I'll stick with the veil, or maybe invest in a spacewalker helmet. ;)
I tried using snorkel gear but having to walk backwards all the time was awkward. although it was fun blowing mad bees out of the snorkel. ;)
:-D Please don't tell me you wore neoprene. That stuff is hot! (although I must admit that I have considered using my scuba suit to see if it's sting-proof).
...not if you dunk it in chilly water first... ;)
There are goggles you can bye to wear when using saws, so saw dust don't get in your eyes.If your hive is under water then of coarse you need diving goggles.
oh, right, the ventilated safety goggles. They fog terribly on me. I saw someone somewhere recommend swimming goggles, I'd be game for a pair of those, but I'd need a breathing mask to keep them out of my mouth & nose and some earplugs too.
just stay clear of the spandex!!! or do us the favor and do not post pics.
No we wanna see the pics. :-D
 I'll use a fisheye lens.

Who doesn't like veils?
Its the nose plugs and mouth clips that get me. And the ear plugs.
take a few stings for the team
You know what I found out ? Smoking them to start with makes the aggressive,if you don't smoke them more then once in about 15 min.,then they start to come out of it and are very aggressive. So if I don't smoke them to start with and making them aggressive I can work as long as I want and they don't bother me. Bottom line is, If I smoke them,I need my veil.If I don't smoke them I need my shorts and a pair of goggles to protect my eyes just in case. I have to provoke my bees for them to sting me.

Going into to a hive to inspect it is provoking them. A little common sense goes a long way, wearing a veil to protect eyes, ears, nose, and throat is common sense. Shorts and T-shirts are fine for the other attire, especially if you're into apitherapy.
Bees are like people, some kind are easily provoked and some are not. I guess i just have some good bees. I ask a bee keeper one day,how do you know if you have Africanized bees,he said if they get mean. I can do about anything around my hives and they don't get aggressive. So that's why I can work them in my shorts. When I start selling bee packages, I'll sell you some. The guy I got my bees from said,if our bees get crossed with mean bees and get mean we kill them.
