For some reason I was thinking that a shallow super yielded approximately 65 pounds of honey. However I extracted 7 supers and have around 300 pounds. I guess some of them were not packed full but at that rate it looks more like 40 pounds each. Maybe I was remembering how much a full super weighs which of course is more then the weight of the honey you will get out.
I harvested 2 mediums (6 5\8 ") last year and got 60 lbs.
I did a crush and strain on one medium frame yesterday and got a bit over 4 lbs.
Quote from: www.bushfarms.com/beesa ten frame deep full of honey weighs 90 pounds. a medium full of honey weights 60 pounds. An eight frame medium full of honey weighs 48 pounds.
That is what the super weighs, not how much honey you will get.

Sounds like a good yield to me. I usually get in the neighborhood of 28-35 lbs per shallow. This is after straining etc. Depends on the year and how drawn out (thickness) the frames are.
Well filled 5 3/4, 10 frame supers about 40 lbs. 8 frame about 32 lbs. this is about max.
How much does a pint jar hold in Lbs?
I've been averaging a pint per frame and up to 12 pints per 10 frame shallow. But I know they weren't maxed out.
pt = 22oz most of the time (some say 24 oz). Moisture content will affect weight.
I seem to average one full 5 gal bucket for every 2 shallows extracted.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I must have been confused. Oh well still a good year so far. I left 4 full supers that were not capped on the bees and there is still the summer flow to come which is going to be huge (fingers crossed). So I already have more honey this year then I did in total last year.
