I have purchased 2 hives last week after a day of orientation flights they are bringing in pollen like gang busters.
the local beeks say were in a dearth.
Is it possible my bees have found some thing the others have not? Or is it possible for them to find pollen and no nectar?
I put an empty super on them when I first placed them and are still going thru a quart of 2:1 a day. I've also placed water in an entrance feeder they have barley touched it but it has rained here every day .5 inch + for the last 2 weeks.
any thought about what to do next would be greatly appreciated
PS I don't think I posted this right the 1st time if it double posts can one of the moderators delete it Ty
Welcome to BeeKeeping, first off relax, it's a hobby !
The locals probably are correct in their opinion of dearth.
No, I'm sure the other local bees know were all the pollen and nector are.
Might want to feed 1/1 instead of 2/1 but it won't hurt either way.
Forget the water at the entrance feeder, they will find water within about a 1/4 mile, [ hopefully not your neighbors swiming pool ] If you must, place a waterer 50 ft. or more away from the hive.
