Here are a few fanners. The nasonov gland is exposed in two of them.

The queen and her entourage

Clipped & Marked
Nice pics!
What breed are those? They look more distinctly marked than my Italians.

Hi Beth,
I have no idea what they are. They were taken out of a wall by a friend of mine. The queen in the second shot is the queen that was with the colony when he removed it and the C/M queen in the third shot was the one he used to replace the first one with.
They were great looking bees and the photos don't do them justice. I've never seen a yellow color like they had. They were just beautiful.

I bet they were pretty. That banding of the yellow and black on the bees looks as if it was very BRIGHT and well defined.

I don't think I have ever seen a bee with the bright yellow like these had. It was almost the color yellow that a yellow jacket has on it.
My new bees for this season look exactly the same way. You may have Hawaiian bees, like me!
Those are great picks, thanks, bye :D
Great Queen!   What race it is ? Please find out!
Very beautiful pics!

I have no idea what the natural queen is but the clipped and marked is an italian Im sure. jathomas seems to think she may be one of Kona queens. If it is I would say it's one of thier Carniolans
