Title: Queen in top box?
Post by: papabear on July 14, 2009, 07:33:56 AM
I have 5 deeps on the hive and when i removed the honey i put the boxes back on so they would clean the honey. 3 weeks later the queen is laying in the top box. I cant find her to put that box down under the others. how do i get her down so i can take the supers off later? I messed up before and lost the hive. I cant lose anymore i only have 3 now. Just on 2 hives i got 15 gals of honey and 1 hive has 1 more super full after 3 weeks. SWEET

there are several ways to isolate the queen If you are unable to find her  you could  devide up the hive using queen excluders then come back in a week or so and start going thru the hive looking for the box that has eggs in it.

If I find the queen, do I put that box on the bottom?
