Title: Need help with honey extraction
Post by: brynmawrbee on July 15, 2009, 06:15:47 PM
hi!  I'm still new to this- its my second year...I honestly can't remember what I did last year...
I have a hive with a super, a medium (with honey) and a shallow (semi-filled).  How many frames can I take?  How much do I have to leave?  I also can't rmember what to do to get the bees off the frames.  I'm blaming the loss of memory on being pregnant.   I really can't remember!!  I know you guys must get really bored answering the same questions over and over....sorry!!!!

I've known a few ladies who couldn't remember the night they got pregnant, but I've never seen permanent loss of memory from it.    :-D

There's many ways to get the bees off the frames. As for how much to leave, your hopelessly lost location doesn't give us much to go on. Please change your profile and let us know where you are. Florida beeks may get by with leaving 20 lbs., where Alaskan beeks may need to leave 150 lb.

Probably no more than you get tired of reading the same answer over and over.  :)

Ha!!!  I swear I do have permanent memory loss!!! ;)
Well I live outside of Philadelphia, PA.  I have two hives.  My one that survived last year isn't huge, but my new one from this year is going crazy!!
