Title: Swarm didn`t go off
Post by: shemer on July 22, 2009, 11:31:22 AM
I had a high bee traffic the other day I can`t explain. A swarm had become airborne but unexpectedly flew back towards its old hive 1 hour later. I belive the quin was not able to lift off for no apparent reason at all. Is that possible?

Yes, I had a hive that wanted to swarm, but the queen didn't cooperate, for whatever reason.

I moved the queen and some brood out into a nuc, but 12 days later, the original hive swarmed with the new queen they made.

Thank you! I am going to move the queen too and see if they care for swarming again.
