Title: Is it too late for a trap out?
Post by: dgc1961 on July 29, 2009, 02:20:29 PM
My dads neighbor is wanting to get rid of some bees that are going into the eve's of the house.  Is it too late in the year for the bee's to build up for winter time?  If it is I will try and talk her in to waiting till spring.  Only problem is she wants them gone.  The landscapers are refusing to work on the hedges that is by the entrance, which happens to be about 10' off of the ground.

It's not to late.

Try to get as much of the brood and honey as you can and wire it to frames and be sure to get the queen.

Yes, it's too late in Randolph county. All you could do is beef up an existing colony or two.
There is no brood or honey when you do a trap out.

That is kind of what I was thinking Iddee.  I will try and get her to wait till spring.

OPPS,Guess I learned something, didn't know what a trap out is. Guess you will add the bees to your hive ? I doubt you will get all the bees and queen, they will still be there.
