Title: When is the best time to make hive splits ?

When is the best time to make hive splits,all summer or fall or spring ? How late in the summer can you do splits ?

Here where I'm at it's April, May, and June. Can stretch it into July some years, depending on weather and nectar flows and beehive strength, and some start in March as an early date.

we made some splits after our spring flow. You can split later but you will probably need to feed all fall and winter to help them make it to spring. Having a queen ready for the split would help.
