Do you think it's OK to put water in entrance feeders ? I tried putting water out side for clean water but it seams like they don't use it but do use entrance feeders with water. I just don't like them wasting time carring water a long way.
sure why not, if they use it go for it. I use a peat pond for water, and two bird washers, But they still go find water on top of an old barrel and a empty planter. they get water where they want to. But it never hurts to supply it.
For what it's worth I've been keeping water in my entrance feeders for the last 3 months. I don't notice them fighting over it but, they only seem to use it when its real dry out side.
I've used a entrance feeder to provide water to my hives most of the summer. It's eay for me to fill and it saves the bees time gathering and bring water back to the hive. (There is a small stream about 800 feet from my hives.)
Many beeks do this, and I always recommend it to beeks who wonder what to do about their bees in the neighbor's swimming pool.
