Title: combining hives
Post by: dbart on August 11, 2009, 02:11:43 AM
I want to combine a weak hive with a queenless hive.  I'd done searches and understand the newspaper method but had a couple questions.  Hive 1 (weak hive) has two deep supers, with the second super only barely drawn out.  Hive 2 (queenless) was doing much better with two supers, the second super almost completely full of capped honey.  How should I arrange the boxes when combining.  Should I put the one full super from hive #1, newspaper, and then both boxes from hive 2.  Or do I stack all 4 boxes together?  Is it best to do this at night when all the bees are in?  Thanks for any help!!
